Youthful Radiant Skin: The Inside-Outside Approach
Beautiful skin can only be truly achieved from the inside-outside approach. That silly, school-girl phrase “You are what you eat” is the simplest, most accurate way to sum it up.
Beauty begins with beautiful, youthful radiant skin…and we all want it! We spend millions of dollars on beauty products and exotic treatments with the hope of achieving and maintaining beautiful skin. The key to beautiful skin is simpler than you think. Here are a few time proven but much overlooked keys to unlocking your skins natural beauty:
1. Drink 8-10 Glasses of Water Everyday.
Drinking plenty of water will help the skin stay hydrated which will also improve the appearance of your skin. Make it a goal to avoid soft drinks and even juices, not only are they laden with calories, but they can also keep you from consuming water which is better for your skin and overall health. Studies show that drinking 8-10 glasses of water everyday will flush the system of toxins, hydrate the skin and clear the complexion. Inadequate amounts of water flowing through the body leads to toxins building up in the body and escape through skin pores leading to all sorts of skin related problems. Water is a key ingredient for the beautiful, youthful radiant skin.
2. Commit to a Well Balanced Diet.
Science has found that you can clear up your skin and make it less likely to wrinkle by eating more vegetables, beans, olive oil, nuts and multi-grain breads. Diets rich in fruits and vegetables are good for us, skin included. Healthful foods appear to reduce inflammation and decrease the likelihood of breakouts and dull, dry skin. Antioxidant-rich foods seem to have a protective effect for the skin. Consider these skin-friendly foods: Carrots, apricots, and other yellow and orange fruits and vegetables; Spinach and other green leafy vegetables; Tomatoes; Blueberries; Beans, peas and lentils; Salmon, mackerel and other fatty fish; Nuts. Eating clean is a must for youthful radiant skin and a healthy meal plan has the added benefit of looking great and feeling great too!
3. Avoid and Reduce Stress.
Avoid or at least reduce stress. This is easier said than done. As women, wives and mothers trying to make sure the needs of our family, job and social obligations are met, it is easy to overload our systems with stress. An increase in the levels of stress hormones can cause an increase in oil production, which leads to oily skin, acne and other skin problems to include premature aging. How we feel on the inside does be affect how we look on the outside. In fact, studies link factors that affect our emotional well-being – such as stress, depression and anxiety – to an increase in skin, hair or nail problems.
4. Protect, Heal and Nourish Your Skin.
Protect, heal and nourish your skin with products that enhance your body’s ability to rejuvenate and optimize cell turn over. Most products on the market are cover ups. To unlock your skin’s natural beauty you can’t simply cover up the problem and expect lasting results that stand the test of time; this leads to more of the same and over time you end up disappointed. With so many products to choose from, its hard to know what to buy. It is best to keep it simple and use science-based products that are formulated to rejuvenate your skin. Products that undergo clinical trials are sure to have the molecular weight to actually absorb into your skin. Have you ever wondered why there are separate creams for the face and eye area? Face creams have a heavier molecular weight and sit on the surface of your skin kind of like a film. This is deceiving because we think it is working when in fact it’s just giving us the optical illusion that it is working when actually it is doing nothing but exasperating the problem, clogging our pores and creating a stomping ground for acne causing bacteria. Eyes creams are more expensive, even the ones at the local drug store because their molecular weight is lighter so that it can absorb in to the skin. If you put face cream on and around the eye area, the weight makes lines, crows feet and crepey skin look worse…and if you used eye cream all over your face…you would spend a fortune in maintaining that regime.
