DMC (DIMETHYLGLYCINE):Autism Therapy

The foremost proponent of nutrient-based medicine for autism, Bernard Rimland, PhD, presents case reports showing that DMG can lengthen autistic children’s attention spans, brighten their moods, and reduce their tantrums and their obsessive-compulsive behaviour. In several instances, mute autistic children began to speak overnight. No formal studies have been done, but the absence of documented research in no way undermines the firsthand evidence. Personal clinical experiences can be very convincing and contribute immensely to a doctor’s education. Rimland’s patients report a large degree of success among children exhibiting obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

Antioxidant Action

Gary Price Todd, MD, a leading nutritional ophthalmologist, has reported that daily 250 mg doses of DMG reversed early cataract growth in some of his patients. Again, no supporting research exists, but Todd’s reports do lend credence to a conclusion in the immune study that DMG displays antioxidant capabilities.

Supplement Suggestions

Personal clinical experience is often one of my best guides, so the lack of hard research evidence means little. I believe DMG has many therapeutic uses, and we need more research and more practical hands-on observations to pinpoint them. Until then I’ll continue to trust my own eyes and recommend the supplement on a try-it-and-see basis as a fatigue remedy If a patient nonces an increase in energy or stamina, I’ll make it a regular prescription. Conventional medicine often endorses such speculation with prescription drugs, even when the medications carry detrimental side effects. Whatever else may or may not be claimed of DMG, at least it is entirely safe, based on all clinical evidence.

Pure DMG tablets containing 125 mg each are the only form of the supplement available. Placed under your tongue, the pill is absorbed within seconds, so if it’s going to lift that lethargy, you’ll notice within a few minutes.
