10 Things You Need To Do Before A Quit Smoking Session
Prior to quitting smoking many people are nervous, some are little skeptical, some are fearful, some are excited at the prospect of being free. Those emotions stem from the past experience or how you are feeling right now. There is however a few things you need to do to ensure you get the best possible outcome.
Lets assume you have made a firm decision to quit, and this is your idea not someone else’s. and you have made the appointment with your quit smoking specialist and paid a deposit to further lock in not only your emotional decision but also your financial commitment.
Before your quit smoking session you should do these things in this order:
- Take a few moments to think about how much money you have spent on smoking in your life. Come up with a figure; don’t worry about accuracy just a ball park figure.
- As you fill in your intake form think clearly about how much smoking has cost you in your time and health. Think and feel the problems you have caused yourself.
- Next think about how your life will be affected if you keep on smoking for the next few years.
- Get angry about all the time health and money you have wasted. Get really angry, rant and rave…do it!
- Congratulate yourself for making this decision. Do it out loud and put some real emotion into it.
- Close your eyes and see yourself going into the session and feel yourself being a non smoker. Let yourself feel great. Notice how easily you relax into hypnosis and how good you feel. Notice that you feel calm and peaceful like a huge burden has been removed.
- See yourself walking out of the session, taking a deep breath and feeling amazing.
- Now imagine it is one week after your final cigarette and your quit session. See yourself telling people that you have been a non smoker for a week and you feel great. Feel it!
- See yourself as a non smoker doing some activity that was difficult in the past. Running playing with kids, having more energy, climbing stairs, feeling fantastic and again congratulate yourself for your success.
- Now imagine it is 10-20 years in the future and you are telling a story about how easily you quit smoking way back when. If you take your health seriously, you will take a short time to do this, preferably do 4-11 each day for a couple of minutes with real emotion, for a few days before your session.
