You Can Quit Smoking – How Do I Stop Smoking
How do I stop smoking? It’s a known fact worldwide that smoking is bad for your health. Even though they are well aware of this fact people still continue to smoke. Smoking is a lousy habit and is very detrimental to your health. Every smoker should try to stop smoking for this reason alone.
Trying to quit smoking is not an easy task. Nicotine the drug that is in cigarettes is very addicting. Personally I think it’s on the same list that heroin is on and it’s right at the top of the list. This makes trying to quit smoking very hard and you often will not succeed.
The best way to stop smoking is not the same for everyone. But you can quit. Other people do every day. If they can do it so can you. You can quit smoking.
Though some people might be able to just quit, this doesn’t work for most of us. You need to write down your goal to quit and how you plan to achieve it. Just like in other aspects of your life, like business and weight loss, this will greatly improve your chances of success. If you see that goal prominently displayed every day it will cement in your mind what you are going to do in order to succeed and you can quit.
In addition to breaking the nicotine addiction you need to get out of the habit of smoking. Every smoker has certain times that they enjoy smoking more than others, like after meals or with their morning coffee. You need to avoid these situations as much as possible. When it’s not possible to avoid these situations you need to do something in order to distract you from the urge to smoke. If you are always thinking about having a cigarette it will make for a very long day and it will wear down your willpower. You might not be able to handle the temptation to smoke.
A lot of people don’t understand why it is so difficult to stop smoking. They think that you are lazy or that you lack willpower. They don’t understand how hard the addiction is to break. They can’t figure out how hard it is to break the habit of smoking. Obviously none of these people have ever been a smoker. If they had been they would definitely be more understanding of the trials of trying to quit.
